Is Westjet Becoming a Dominant Airline in Canada?

Westjet has already been a dominating airline in Canada for quite some time now. It is no more a matter subject to debate that Westjet Airlines is the No. 2 airline company in Canada. The only reason why Westjet is still not the No. 1 is because Air Canada operates on more routes than Westjet Airlines. Clearly, the revenue and passengers using an airline would be more with Air Canada than Westjet. 

Having said that, the scenario is likely to change since as per the latest updates Westjet is planning to go head on with Air Canada. Westjet is likely to launch more regional routes by 2013 which would take its reach to destinations where Air Canada is still the only flying option. Westjet Airlines is already the preferred airline in Canada when it comes to travelling to destinations in the United States, Mexico or the Caribbean and also for all the routes within Canada where Westjet operates. With more routes, communities who do not get to benefit from Westjet would get an opportunity to save while enjoying all the expected services in flight. Now that is awesome!
